We all were very relaxed after massages by Felipe, Rosa, and Alejandra.… We each had two massages during this trip. Everything went smoothly and a great time was had by each of us. Our personal concierge, Jaime, set up everything for us with Louis from Lomas. We did the catamaran and snorkeling tour with Maroma Adventures and also spent a morning in Playa del Carmen. The Chef, Sommelier, and our waiter took excellent care of us. It was a very special seven course dinner with wine pairing. We were also able to book the Chef's Table at D'Italia Casitas during this trip. Ivan, the host, greeted us each morning with a smile and found us the perfect table. We had lovely breakfasts each morning at Chef's Market and the food and drinks delicious. He set up our Bali Beds for us each day and brought us drinks and snacks on the beach. Our beach butler, Raul, is an absolute gem. The rest of the butler staff are fantastic as well and did whatever they could to assist us: Gerardo, Abril, Israel, and Luna. They are truly special people and so very helpful. We had the pleasure of having Stephanie and Eddie as our main butlers. All of the butlers are fantastic - from making dinner reservations, to helping us book excursions, to driving us to meals on the golf carts, and wrapping bottles of wine we purchased for us to take home, the service is outstanding. But what really makes the trip over the top, is the staff. And it was very convenient to be able to step off of the back patio into the pool and go to the pool bar for beverages. We booked a 2-bedroom pool swim out suite and it was perfect. When you are celebrating 40 years of knowing one another, what do you do? Book a girl's trip to Mexico! 4 nights in paradise at a family resort? Absolutely. On the whole: a great family vacation, and we are seriously considering coming back again next year!… For activities, I would highly recommend checking out the Nickelodeon water park (right next door, they can take you over by golf cart) and Rancho Bonanza (reviewed separately). They just feel a little more sheltered because their balconies are set back further than the rest. Our kids loved the swim up, but I was glad to be on the end of the floor in a corner room. If a family is splashing around, chances are they might swim past your area, and you will definitely hear them. This means it is somewhat of a shared space. To crack the code, start counting at “0” for ground level.) The swim-up concept is fun, because the pool runs along the end of everyone’s balcony. (Note: The resort is confusing in how they’ve numbered the floors. Our suite was a swim-up on the second floor. Things felt a bit run-down, but I was told the hotel is actively refurbishing the rooms. The basic room also had its own sofa bed with a dividing wall to create additional sleeping. The combination of living and dining space with kitchenette along with two full baths, and a half-bath made it easy to share the space. The accommodation was a “two bedroom” suite, which is actually a standard room adjoining a king suite. We were travelling with two adults, two kids (tweens) and a senior. However, they work hard to keep the beach itself clean and graded with a tractor every morning. The surf is rough and the destruction of the breakwater system has created a seaweed problem. About the beach: don’t plan on doing a lot of ocean swimming. These Bali beds are first-come-first-served for non-members, but we could reserve for the week. On the beach, we were served by Erbie our beach butler who catered drinks, towels and organised the Bali beds. He assisted in clearing up an unfortunate room assignment (avoid the far side of building 18 if you are looking for peace and quiet). As Exotic members, our service was further enhanced by our concierge Kevin. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, these two were on the ball and ready to help with anything. We had an excellent team of butlers: Luiz and Gerardo. But what sets Generations apart from other Karisma properties we have experienced is the service. The food was consistently creative and well-prepared. Although there are only a few restaurants, they were all great. As it turns out, we got lucky! My impression is that this small property punches above its weight. This time we could not stay at the adults only Royale, so we opted for Generations.
